Telestroke helped Franciscan Health expand access to care in underserved communities

Franciscan Health in central Indiana successfully expanded access to neurology services by implementing Teladoc Health's Emergent Care solution in late 2020. Prior to this, the health system relied on two neurologists covering a large region, causing delays in stroke patient care due to transfers.

In partnership with Teladoc Health and Adjacent Health, Franciscan Health enabled advanced specialty care at remote hospitals, reducing the need for transfers and increasing referrals and patient satisfaction. This shift also facilitated improved stroke response and care processes, with notable enhancements in patient education, dysphasia screening, time-to-glucose results, neuroimaging, and door-to-needle time.
